Man by nature is Selfish or Man by nature is Good
Man by nature is Selfish and Man by nature is Good. What is the real nature of man? What is the real nature of us all? Is it something measurable? Is it something that can be done through study research? Evolutionists said that earth is millions of years old. Is that span of time enough for us humans to know what we really are by nature?
Our nature, in my own definition, is something that we do unconsciously. Something that we do yet we do not really know. These are our action that just happens in a spur of the moment -- a subconscious reaction on things. Somehow more like a reflex kind of reaction.
But what are we really by nature? Are we really selfish or good? That question is one of the hardest. Because for me,both is right. 'Man by nature is selfish' is defined not in a bad way but still, it is somehow hard to accept. I really want to say that we, by nature, is good because we really are but at the same time I cannot say for sure because we are selfish.
But in order to really know my view on what kind of nature we humans have, depends on the kind of view of I, as an individual. The question is somewhat similar to what is always being asked: "Is the glass 'half-empty' or 'half-full'?" And the answer depends on the individual's view in life and things. If someone answered that the glass is 'half-empty', then I will assume that if that same person is asked whether man by nature is selfish or good, I think that person will answer "selfish" since we all know that Thomas Hobbes perception on that is somehow negative and pessimistic.
On the other hand, if an individual answered glass 'half-full', it indicates and describes optimism and positivity. I will assume that, he/she believes that man by nature is good. And I am a very optimistic person. I have no reason not to be so I will firmly and will stand that we, human beings is good by nature.
